Awake at 9am and am aching all over from crawling through the CCT's the day before. Legs feel like jelly.
We are leaving today so hit the market one last time to buy even more tourist tat and to work on my haggling skills, which still suck!
After I decide to do a cyclo tour around the city. I find a guide and bargain with him to take me around the city for 80,000VND per hour ($5). His name is Nam and he is one talkative fella. I get taken to Reunification Palace, which really isn't that impressive. It's a very plain building with lots of decor that could have come straight out of the 70's. Think old skool Bond film. I then get taken to the War Remnants Museum, which if anything is just very thought provoking. It is very one sided (of course) towards the Vietnamese, but it is so sad to see what war brings. All the chemicals that the Americans dropped like Agent Orange, Napalm - completely ruining the people and the next generations. Just really sad.
After I get taken to some Chinese Market, which is just a big building full of cheap & colourful tat. Luckily I look Vietnamese so I don't get hassled. I have some food in the market and chose some meat on a stick that looks like a mini kebab. No idea what meat it is and think it probably best I don't either. After I finish my tour with Nam and I mooch about till I have to meet my tour group.
Meet the group and get a coach to the train station. We are going to Na Trang - a Vietnamese Beach resort. I share a cabin with an Irish couple, Ronan and Anita, and we just sit around drinking beers and chatting. I then have to use the loos, which are those squat ones. They scare me senseless as my leg muscles are not very strong (plus I'm aching from the tunnels the day before). I always feel like I'm going to fall down and it does not help the train is moving. However, I do not fall in and all is a success!
